Community Health Worker (CHW) provides a range of services to individuals and families in the community. Services that are designed to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and families in the community, with the goal of reducing health disparities and improving health outcomes.

Our Violence Interrupters are “Credible Messengers,” individuals from the community who possess firsthand experience with violence or a deep understanding of its impact on the community. These individuals also boast strong relationships with targeted populations and other stakeholders within the community. They serve as Outreach Workers, providing crucial Safe Passage services. They provide proactive peacemaking and peacekeeping efforts, as well as violence interruption and active community engagement. Through direct interaction with community members, our Violence Interrupters address barriers and work towards risk reduction by providing valuable resources and referrals. This approach ensures that the community’s unique needs are understood and met effectively, promoting a safer and more resilient environment for all.

Our organization has meticulously crafted a culturally responsive framework aimed at understanding and tackling opioid addiction within the East African community. The model for opioid reduction draws insights from established best practices in chemical dependency interventions, effective teaching and learning methods, community engagement, and the thoughtful integration of cultural elements into our programming. This holistic approach ensures that our efforts are tailored to the specific needs and sensitivities of the community, fostering a more effective and empathetic response to the opioid crisis.
